MetCoal Australia

Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used
for critical building and infrastructure around
the world.   In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year
producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.

Job Description:

Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will be an energetic OCE who will impact and influence

a drive towards a proactive safety culture,

through the use of Anglo American core values and empowering people to make the correct choices,


whilst leading by example. You will align

yourself with our burning ambition strategies, be creative and demonstrate break through thinking to

optimise Dawson’s performance.

Your role will be to monitor, inspect and report across mining operations, to ensure all activities and

conditions are safe, and compliant with

relevant legislation and Dawson Coal Mine SHECM system. You will have a demonstrated track

record of driving key leadership initiatives and

proactive safety management with a core commitment to continuous improvement. You will also

have the capacity to deliver compliance through

direction, education and consultation as required, which is an essential component of the role.

You will be required to have exceptional communication skills and be able to converse with a large variety of stakeholders on site.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you will possess knowledge of mining legislation, safety, health,

environment and community systems and open cut

mining techniques. You must have a current OCE ticket and S1, S2, S3 & G2 qualifications. Prior

Supervisory experience is desirable, but not

essential. You will also need to demonstrate proven safety leadership capabilities and their delivery

and commitment to visual safety leadership.
