Job Description:

Reporting to the Mining Superintendent, you will be an energetic OCE who will impact and influence

a drive towards a proactive safety culture,

through the use of Anglo American core values and empowering people to make the correct choices,


whilst leading by example. You will align

yourself with our burning ambition strategies, be creative and demonstrate break through thinking to

optimise Dawson’s performance.

Your role will be to monitor, inspect and report across mining operations, to ensure all activities and

conditions are safe, and compliant with

relevant legislation and Dawson Coal Mine SHECM system. You will have a demonstrated track

record of driving key leadership initiatives and

proactive safety management with a core commitment to continuous improvement. You will also

have the capacity to deliver compliance through

direction, education and consultation as required, which is an essential component of the role.

You will be required to have exceptional communication skills and be able to converse with a large variety of stakeholders on site.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role you will possess knowledge of mining legislation, safety, health,

environment and community systems and open cut

mining techniques. You must have a current OCE ticket and S1, S2, S3 & G2 qualifications. Prior

Supervisory experience is desirable, but not

essential. You will also need to demonstrate proven safety leadership capabilities and their delivery

and commitment to visual safety leadership.

ABOUT THE COMPANY – NUMSA

The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) was formed in 1987, as the result of

a merger between four unions, namely The Motor Industry Combined Workers Union (MICWU);

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

NUMSA is offering bursary awards to help students that are dependants of a NUMSA member or a

staff dependant, to help pursue their tertiary studies. Bursaries will be awarded to students within the

ABOUT THE COMPANY – CAPE WINELANDS DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY

The Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) is located in the Boland of the Western Cape

province and was previously known as the Boland District Municipality. Positioned between the

coastal regions of the Overberg and the West Coast, next to the Cape Metropolitan area, it covers an

area of over 20 000 square kilometers.


The district seat is Worcester and the CWDM is divided into 5 local municipalities – Stellenbosch,

ABOUT THE COMPANY – BUSHBUCKRIDGE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY

The Bushbuckridge Local Municipality was named after the large herds of bushbuck spotted in this

location, as well as the WNW-ESE ridge which is a prominent feature in the south east. It is

Mpumalanga’s largest local municipality, according to its population and land mass.


The Municipality is based in the north eastern part of Mpumalanga and south eastern part of

Limpopo, and also includes a section of the Kruger National Park. It is a presidential nodal point and
